NRCDC1002 - Release : Jan 2006 / Format CD

The Nasha crew launch the eagerly awaited "Eastern Drum and Breaks - volume 2" featuring the very best producers within the scene today.

Following on from the success of volume 1, Nasha now encapsulates the Eastern sound of London and beyond.

Born a few years back to cater for the lack of heavy Asian breaks on the dance scene, Nasha has since established itself as a reference label and club night, managing to update a strong heritage with cutting edge sounds to stunning results.

Throughout 14 tracks, Ges-e and the Nasha collective take you on an incredible journey. Sitars and Tabla contrast with a rough rolling bassline in the opening ‘PK 757’, setting the standard for an album where Arabic strings, flutes and traditional Indian instruments provide a striking yet successful contrast with grimey breaks and dirty basslines, with great vocal licks providing more dramatic touches. From the strong dancefloor flavours to experimental journeys, from subtle message-bearing stormers to old school electro vibe, with special mention to the utterly gorgeous rework of A.R. Rahman’s classic Bollywood song ‘So Gaye Hain’, this album is a rich and contrasted collection.

This is the second album compiled by the label, following on from ‘Eastern Drums And Breaks Vol. 1 in 2003. It shows a subtle yet important evolution in the Nasha sound that retains all its originality while becoming increasingly a force to be reckoned with on the global breaks scene.
