Former Anokha and Outcaste DJ, Asian Music Producer and label boss Ges-e set up Nasha Records in response to the lack of Asian flavours within the UK dance scene. Their first LP release, 'Eastern Drum and Breaks'
in December 2003 saw beautifully crafted bass lines sitting side by
side with traditional asian melodies and instrumentation consequently
winning critical acclaim and setting off the full scale asian assault
on the UK Drum 'n' Bass scene. With the second album looming, newcomer Zahid unleashes this fully-flavoured sampler.
Haunting Arabic strings introduce 'The Gaza Strip' as this East meets West chiller accompanies the words of poet Saul Williams,
carrying a deeper message. Sweeping atmospherics soaring through the
track as a grinding relentless bass is kept in check by snapping
tutti-driven breaks.
Sahara grounds itself firmly with Asian roots as Zahid
produces sharp drums tightened up by the tabla beats and accompanied by
an eerie Arabic Orchestral melody. Traditional Asian woodwind drift
through the track with snippets of sitar occasionally surfacing over
the deep bouncing bass.
Nasha records was set up as a response to a lack of Asian Drum & breaks on the dance scene. 'So Gaye Hain' - A R Rahman (Ges-e & Equal i Refix) offers a beautifull lush string section with rolling drums. 'PK 757' a Sitar laced tabla fuelled rolling bassline, it's a jump up killa.
